Monday May 5th through Monday the 12th
We are proud to announce the release of a new Ballast Point brew. Brother Levonian Saison was brewed from a recipe created by a recently departed friend of the brewery, Dave Levonian. Dave was our very first customer at the Home Brew Mart in the early 90’s. He consistently made fantastic national award winning homebrews and traveled the world to collect the finest, most delicious bottles he could find to share with his friends. He was always smiling and could be found anywhere there was a good beer to be had. His untimely passing a few months ago, due to a very short battle with Cancer, was a real shock to all of us in the SD Beer Nerd community. All proceeds from the sale of this beer will be for the benefit of the wife and young daughter he left behind.
We have used Dave’s award winning Saison recipe to recreate one of his favorite styles of beer. The beer is a Belgian-Style Saison brewed with Belgian Pale Malt, Belgian Vienna Malt, Oats, Wheat, Coriander, Sweet Orange Peel, Curacao, Grains of Paradise, Mountain Flower Honey and Belgian Saison #565 yeast (donated by White Labs). It is unfiltered and retains a cloudy appearance. It is full flavored, but highly drinkable. Try it with your favorite roasted or grilled chicken dish.
OG 1.056
5.5% ABV
The beer will be available in draft only, so find it at your local beer spot. Some of the places that will have it are:
Ballast Point / Home Brew Mart Linda Vista (Growlers)
Ballast Point Scripps Ranch (Growlers)
Stone Bistro
Hamilton’s Tavern
Obrien’s Pub
Churchill’s
The Local
Downtown Johnny Brown’s

What would Dave drink? We think he would have a Brother Levonian Saison.
Cheers to Dave!

Friday, Sept. 19, 2008
The fourteenth annual Festival of Beer takes over the streets at Columbia and B once again to bring you a fun-filled evening with over 4,000 local beer lovers like yourself enjoying the sounds of live music while sampling from over one hundred and fifty different microbrews.
This year we hope once again to be privileged to have Len Rainey and the Midnight Players and Night Shift as our live bands. The admission fee of $25 included ten (4oz.) beer tastings. Inside the “FOB” we had food and munchies for sale in addition to a selection of wines for purchase by the glass. All guests received a free souvenir event logo tasting glass that was theirs to use throughout the evening and to keep when they went home.
Please note, this is a non-smoking event, and a 21-and-over event only.
No admittance without photo ID, and no children or pets permitted.

Thursday October 9th through Saturday the 11th
Save the Date for 2008
Join us in 2008 for our 27th Annual Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado during the weekend of October 9 through October 11.
GABF visitors enjoy one-ounce beer samples from the festival’s’s breweries. These breweries are arranged on the festival floor by regions of the country, giving beer lovers a walking tour of the nation’s beer-blessed landscape. Many of the booths are staffed by the brewers themselves. More than 46,000 beer enthusiasts from Colorado, the United States, and around the world attended this year’s GABF. The 2007 GABF covered 188,000 square feet of the Colorado Convention Center.
The GABF also hosts one of the world’s largest and most prestigious tasting competitions. Over 100 professional beer judges from the United States and abroad evaluated over 2,800 beers entered by more than 470 domestic breweries. Gold, silver and bronze medals in 75 beer-style categories were awarded on October 13 at the 1:30 p.m. awards ceremony held during the Members Only Tasting Session.
The GABF’s popular food & beer pairing seminars featuring an A-list of America’s brewers joined local and national celebrity chefs for demonstrations on how to cook with beer and pair different styles of beer with various dishes.
