Because one berry wasn't enough, we've added three to our new Triple Berry Pie Blonde Ale. Blackberries, blueberries and raspberries will feature prominently in the color and flavor of our latest concoction to help celebrate America's independence. Why stop the party after the forth? Come have a few beers at Council for our Charity Night on July 5th, 2016 to support the International Dyslexia Association, San Diego Branch.
This beer will be the absolute final batch we make at Monkey Paw. We brew and drink this maibock style of beer in memory of our good friend Jim Conroy. This is our take on Jimbo's all time favorite beer, Rogue's Dead Guy Ale and we will have a cask specially made for this event. The cask will be "old fashioned" cocktail style which will have orange, cherry and bourbon soaked oak chips. We will also be serving 10 oz pours for only $3.50 the day of release. Many thanks to the good people at Rouge Ales for allowing us to do this.
(Real Ale is a living product produced and conditioned thru a secondary fermentation in the cask itself. Once the cask is tapped and vented the race is on for us to serve this beer as quickly as possible to preserve the flavor and health integrity of that beer. Real ale is truly unique and special so join us as we challenge our palletes with the nuances of flavor and body in our beers).
Because our love for hoppy beers is too robust for any single day to hold, we're dedicating five days to the mighty India Pale Ale and tapping a ton of specialty IPAs we brewed up just for this very special week-long affair.
We have over 16 new recipes & varieties of IPAs that were inspired by you (our customers), our brewers and the rest of our team so we've broken the week down into categories:
Monday 6/11 Regional: While San Diego might be known for the infamous West Coast-Style IPAs, each region around the world has their own twist on this ever popular style. Try a few of our interpretations of these!
Tuesday 6/12 Hops: Hop varietals play a major role in the final product of any beer, especially in this hop forward style! Get up close and personal with some of those varietals through our single dry-hopped IPAs created for this event.
Wednesday 6/13 Yeast: The type of yeast used can drastically change the flavors of a beer. Try these funky IPAs side by side to see what a difference one ingredient can make.
Thursday 6/14 Experimental: This category is dedicated to letting our brewers have a little fun with the style. Come by to see what they can come up with!
Friday 6/15 Best of Show: The top IPA from each category will compete to be named winner of this year's AleSmith's IPA Week and be brewed and tapped for our Annual Tap Recap event on New Year's Eve.

Sign up for @SoCalRuck2016, an important cause supporting veterans with PTSD! Go solo, join a team, or sponsor someone who's ruckin'!
@NewEnglishBrewing is honored to be the official beer sponsor for SoCalRuck 2016. This worthy cause will raise awareness and funds to support veterans returning from conflict who are suffering with PTSD as well as physical wounds.
Says Simon Lacey, owner and head brewer: "The idea that every day 22 veterans will end their own lives is a tragedy. New English Brewing has long supported other veterans causes and supporting the SoCalRuck is a natural extension of our firm belief that we as a society must engage with the veteran community. Anything we can do is but a small gesture of gratitude to the brave men and women to whom we all owe so much and who now need our help. “
On Wednesday July 20th we will be hosting our first beer paired dinner with ILNLYFFOODS. The cost of the dinner includes a 4 course meal prepared by chef Maui, along with four 6oz pours of different Bay City beers. All guests attending will also receive a complimentary Bay City pint glass to take home. For reservations please contact Scott at [email protected]
Our annual celebration of nth-degree beer geekery is back for a fourth round, and this time all 66,000 square feet are dedicated to the convergence of geek culture and craft beer culture. More retro arcade games, more casks and more bars add up to a release party large enough to match the formidable Stone Farking Wheaton w00tstout. Hop-Con isn't about awkward handshakes, high-fives, selfies and autographs--just general and rampant merriment and geeky celebration full of great food and awesome craft beer.
Specialty Growler Fill Party!
Earlier this month, we gave a sneak peak of our 2016 Bourbon Barrel Aged Pirate’s Breakfast at our 2nd Anniversary Celebration. It was one of the most popular beers of the day, along with the Coffee & Vanilla variant. They were the first kegs to kick at that party, and we can’t wait for you all to try it!
We are thrilled to announce that on Thursday, July 21st, from 2pm-10pm you will be able to purchase (1) 32oz growler fill of both the BBA Pirate’s Breakfast and BBA Pirate’s Breakfast with Mostra Cold Brew Coffee & Vanilla. Both beers will be available on draft and for growler fills, while supplies last.
Tasting Notes: BBA Pirate’s Breakfast first catches your eye with a deep dark appearance and a light brown frothy head. You will immediately smell the sweet vanilla bourbon and chocolate coffee roast, followed by some ripe dark fruit notes in the background. This full bodied, silky stout will warm even the blackest of hearts at 10.2% ABV, as you’re reminded why we named our Imperial Oatmeal Stout, Pirate’s Breakfast. The Heaven Hill Bourbon flavor is ever present, but not overwhelming, allowing the genuine flavors of the dark roasted malts to shine through.
We hope you will stay a while and enjoy a glass of this rich deliciousness with some grub. We will have the S & M: Sausage and Meat food truck on site at 3pm. See you there. Cheers!
