The mission of the San Diego Brewer’s Guild is to promote awareness and increase the visibility of fresh, locally brewed beer through education and participation in community events.
To that end we are providing you, the discriminating beer lover, with a handy place to find info about our fresh local beers and the breweries that make them.

The 11th San Diego Real Ale Festival will be Friday, June 13th and Saturday, June 14th at Pizza Port Carlsbad. The event will feature more than 45 cask conditioned ales all served in the proper manner from an English beer engine. A wide range of beers will be available from session ales and pales ales to IPAs, brown ales and stouts. The festival will run from 4 pm - 11 pm on Friday and 11 am - 11 pm on Saturday. Admission is $25 and includes an Imperial pint tasting glass and 8 taster tickets each good for four ounce sample. Additional tastes are just $1. There will also be a special VIP session on Friday the 13th from 1 pm - 4 pm featuring a selection of bottled real ales and special casks including Lost Abbey’s Angel’s Share Barleywine. The beer is a Belgian-Style Saison brewed with Belgian Pale Malt, Belgian Vienna Malt, Oats, Wheat, Coriander, Sweet Orange Peel, Curacao, Grains of Paradise, Mountain Flower Honey and Belgian Saison #565 yeast (donated by White Labs). It is unfiltered and retains a cloudy appearance. It is full flavored, but highly drinkable. Try it with your favorite roasted or grilled chicken dish.

14 Medals for San Diego at the 2008 World Beer Cup
This year, 644 breweries from 58 countries and 45 U.S. states vied for awards with 2,864 beers entered in 91
beer style categories. The top three entries in each category won gold, silver and bronze awards. In addition
the competition gives “Champion Brewery” and “Champion Brewer” awards in each of five brewery categories
based on the awards won by each brewery. Brewers from the United States won 185 of the 268 style category
awards and four of the five Champion Brewery/Brewer awards. [more]
