Samuin Harvest Beer Release At Helm’s Brewing Company

Helm’s Brewing Company releases their fall seasonal beer “Samuin Harvest” this Friday September 26th 2014. Named after the original fall/winter festival that influenced many Halloween traditions today, this Pumpkin Amber Ale incorporates the fall season and is a favorite among Helm’s regulars. This beer celebrates the fall season with many fall classic ingredients including ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, brown sugar and of course pumpkin.

Join Helm’s for Friday September 26th and celebrate the new season and this new beer.

 

Christmas in July at Helm’s

Helm’s Brewing’s biggest event of the summer is Christmas in July Friday July 25th, 2014. Helm’s will be bringing out all of their winter seasonal favorites including rarities seen only once a year.

The Goose Island Migration Week Invasion is coming to San Diego May 27th - May 31st and our new location, OB Noodle House: Bar 1502, will be hosting the specialty/limited release event on Wednesday, May 28th from 6pm - 9pm. We will have a few of the Goose Island brewers & staff on site to discuss brewing, innovations, brand profiles and ideal foods to pair with the different styles and brands.

Another brand that will hit the draught lines for the first time ever in California will be Rasselbock, which is a part of the Fulton & Wood series that is exclusive to Chicago proper.

This will be a great event to discuss and samples great beers from Chicago that you cannot get everywhere else. There may even be a few other special(ty) guests to sample as well.

Spring Seasonal Beer Release: En Garde

Spring is finally upon us, and that means we welcome in our spring seasonal release, “En Garde”. This Biere de Garde style, which translates into “beer for keeping”, was originally made in French farmhouses in the 1500’s during the winter months to avoid unpredictable wild yeast in the summer. The beer would then be kept until it became warm enough to drink during spring time.

 

“En Garde” is full of fruity esters that come from the wild yeast and the applewood chips we use in the brewing process. As should be expected from this historic style, “En Garde” is light , fruity, complex, and very refreshing.

Where There’s Smoke

January is finally here and so is the long anticipated release of Where There’s Smoke. This smoked rye ale brewed with chile peppers is a favorite among craft beer enthusiasts.

Every year we take the time to hand process the chilies that are brewed with the beer. This is a lengthy process that starts weeks ahead of time, however the devotion to ingredient detail is key to making this beer complex in flavor. The combination of the two types of chilies, Guajillo pronounced gwah-Hee-yoh and Chile de Arbol, gives this beer a unique heat that is not over powering. This World Beer Cup award winner will now be available throughout the whole state of California.

To toast this San Diego “winter” treat, we will be throwing special release event at our Tasting Room, January 15th from 4pm-8pm. Our brewers have created a specialty flight for the evening, which will feature a variety of beers that are heat focused. As an added treat we will have New Orleans Cuisine and Catering Food Truck, featuring regional favorites, along with a dish created with our very own Where There’s Smoke!

Night Before Christmas Release Party

 

To help get you into the Holiday Spirit, Manzanita Brewing Company has brewed up their 2013 edition of Night Before Christmas. With a unique blend of roasted and chocolate malts from England and peppermint added late in the brewing process, we have created a stout that is prefect for the holiday season.

The holidays are should always be filled with warm memories and deliciously indulgent treats. This Chocolate Mint Stout is sure to brighten up your holidays with its robust flavor of peppermint and balancing chocolate notes.

Night Before Christmas will be available in bottles and on draft throughout establishments in California beginning late November. Founder Jeff Trevaskis stated “We are always excited about this beer but we never want to put it on too early. This is truly a beer to be enjoyed during those chilly nights.”

To help celebrate the release of Night Before Christmas will we have a keg taping party in the Tasting Room on Thanksgiving Eve, November 27th. We will have the brewers on hand to answer any questions and you will be able to stock up on bottles for the your holiday parties, there will also be a few surprises that night to get you into the holiday spirit.
