A classic Scotch Ale. Scotch ales are typically sweet and malty, with a very subdued dose of hops- just enough to provide balance. AleSmith Wee Heavy is a wonderful interpretation of this traditional Scotch style.
AwardsMultiple awards, including Silver in its category at the Chicago Real Ale Festival and the World Beer Championships, and Brewers’ Choice at the San Diego Strong Ales Festival (first beer ever to win both in the sameyear). Great American Beer Festival 2004 Bronze, Great American Beer Festival 2005 Silver.
QualitiesDeep mahogany color with nice tan head. Rich, toasty, malty aroma
and flavor with a faint touch of smokiness. A tinge of hops provides the perfect balance to the maltiness. Full-bodied, smooth and warming.
Opinion
Alesmith Wee Heavy -
Single handedly one of my favorite beers during the
holiday months. This full bodied scotch ale has an impact right from the first smell you take of your pint. Wonderful toasted nut malt nose and
the richness in the body lets you know your having a beer! The flavor is so well rounded that your tongue will just dance between the sweetness and
the malt characteristics. If you’re wanting a hop bomb dont go here if you’re wanting a balanced sweet/malty full bodied ale that says Merry Xmas.. well this is the choice hands down.
